The difference is simple. An acquisition funnel advertises to cold prospects, that is people that know nothing about you or your product/service.
The activation funnel could then be used, starting with an email broadcast to the leads that opted in for the free offer (lead magnet) in the acquisition funnel, but did not purchase the next offer (tripwire). Alternatively, you could use the activation funnel, starting with an email broadcast, to a list that has buyers that have not purchased anything new in a while.
